Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 2, 2026
1. Introduction
Screencast is operated by the Screencast team. It is designed to be a local-first recording tool: we do not require an account, and we do not upload your recordings to our servers. If you have a privacy question, contact us at support@onlinescreencast.com.
2. Local Processing
All screen recording, camera capture, and video processing (including MP4 conversion) happen locally within your web browser on your own device. The final video file is saved directly to your local storage.
3. Data Collection
We do not collect, store, or transmit your recorded videos, audio, or screen content. We use Google Analytics to understand website visits and improve the service. This may collect usage information such as pages viewed, browser and device information, and general interactions. We do not use analytics to access, identify, or build a profile from your recordings.
4. Third-Party Services
Google Analytics processes website-usage data under Google's privacy terms. We may also link to third-party services, such as optional video trimming or upscaling tools. When you use those services, their privacy policies apply.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Screencast uses browser storage for the recording workspace and interface preferences. Recording chunks are stored in this site's IndexedDB database, and the theme preference is stored in local storage on your device. These items are not advertising cookies and are not used to follow you across websites. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers according to the consent state and your browser settings. Clearing site data can remove an unexported recording, so export any recording you want to keep first.
6. Advertising
This website may display advertising from Google AdSense. When advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, subject to the consent state and applicable law. In the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage default to denied; personalised advertising must not be enabled unless consent is collected through a Google-certified consent management platform. You can manage personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings. A site-level privacy choices control will be shown when the certified consent platform is enabled.
7. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of personal data about you, to object to processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because we operate no accounts and never receive your recordings, the data concerned is limited to website analytics and, when advertising is enabled, advertising identifiers handled by the providers described above. Browser tracking protection or a content blocker can disable analytics without affecting the recorder. To exercise a right, or to ask what applies to you, contact us at support@onlinescreencast.com.
8. Children's Privacy
Screencast is not directed to children under 13, or under the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided personal data through this website, contact us and we will delete what we hold.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
